- Grand Opening Memorial Day Celebration on May 25, 2009
To introduce themselves to the community, the staff at the Calphin Aquatic Club held a Memorial Day Grand Opening Splash Party on May 25. The doors opened at 10 a.m. to a crowd of eager swimmers waiting to have a chance to jump in to the pools. During the open swim times, swimmers were able to play on the dozens of oversized inflatable water toys that were brought out for this Memorial ‘Splash’ Day event. Some of the gifts available to all visitors that day included balloons, bubbles, candy, pens, bracelets and many other toys and fun things for all ages. A raffle drawing was held every hour for prizes such as swim caps, racing goggles and other competitive training equipment, with grand prizes of $50 gift certificates from the Calphin Club good towards lesson programs or membership. The festivities lasted all day until 5 p.m.
- Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - May 22, 2009
Organized by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Calphin Aquatic Club officially declares the facility ‘open for business’! To commemorate this occasion we were honored with the presence of Mayor Bob Wasserman, Vice Mayor Anu Natarajan and Councilmember Bill Harrison who all helped to cut our ceremonial ribbon. It was a veritable ‘who’s who’ of state and regional representatives from all walks of business industries that day. The crowd was then treated to a champagne brunch and formal tour of the brand new building. Below were some media coverages in Chinese:
- Ground Breaking for Fremont Swim Center on Feb 28, 2008
While the ‘08 Olympic Games were hosted in Beijing in August, our head coach, an Olympic medalist swimmer from China, will break ground for her first swim facility, the Calphin Aquatic Club, right here in the bay area. The ceremony was held at the swim center project site, in north Fremont.
This exciting swim center is the very first indoor swimming facility in Fremont with pools heated year-round, and is suitable for swimmers of all ages. It covers a footprint of over 10,000sf including two pools, shower and locker rooms.
Both the mayor, vice mayor and many city council members of Fremont attended our ceremony. We appreciated the outpouring of support from the community at our ground-breaking ceremony, and were so excited to celebrate and witness this historic moment in Fremont.

Coach Wang, Xiaohong, made a trip to China during 2007 Christmas to attend the opening ceremony of the Wang Xiaohong Swim School in Changzhou, her hometown.

Our head coach Xiaohong Wang was by a local Chinese TV program named "Talks Tonight", hosted Ms Zhengxi Shi. The interview subject was about our swim school and the upcoming Fremont Swim Center we were planning to build.
