Lifeguard Cerfitication - Full Course
Want a Year-round Job as Lifeguard or Become a Professional Rescuer?
This ARC Lifeguarding Certification is a full course including AED training, covering both deep and shallow waters. This course will help you develop skills and experience that will be valued by colleges, swim schools, recreational departments and future employers. It's a great way to demonstrate what you can offer. Colleges and employers look for applicants who can deal effectively with people and incidents, who are willing to learn and develop new skills, and who have a take-charge attitude in an incidental situation. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Lifeguards.
Prerequisites
- Minimum age of 15. Must be 15 years old by the last day of the course.
- Pre-course Swim Test:
- 300 yd swim (front crawl/ breaststroke/ or combination of both)
- Tread water for 2 minutes without arms
- Swim 20 yd using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive & retrieve a 10lb brick from 7-10 ft water, return 20 yd to side of pool, and exit pool – time requirement: 1 minute 40 seconds (Pool Admission Ticket can be purchased for prerequisite self assessment, upon registration.)

Lifeguard Cerfitication - Challenge 
The challenge course for Lifeguarding is to give individuals the opportunity to recertify without having to redo theentireclass. At Calphin Aquatic Club, the challenge course will be a written test and a practical skills test. It is strongly recommended that challenge participants do their own study of the Lifeguard Training Participant Book and review of skills before attending the challenge session. There will be no instruction given. Also, participants are required to bring their own pocket masks for the test. If you do not have a pocket mask, one can be purchased at Calphin Aquatic Club for $15.
Prerequisites
- Current certificate holders may attempt to pass a challenge course as often as they like as long as theircertificate remains current.
- Non-certificate holders and individuals with expired certificates may attempt to pass a challenge one time only. If the non-certificate or expired certificate holder does not pass the challenge, then he or she should be referred to a full course and cannot be allowed to attempt the challenge again.

Lifeguard's CPR Cerfitication - Challenge 
The challenge course for CPR for the Professional Rescuer is to give individuals the opportunity to recertify withouthaving to redo the entire class.
