At Calphin our swim lesson is like a term in college, you will be enrolled and charged by session. A session usually last 10 weeks (in general) / 3 weeks (in summer Intense)

Progress can be checked at any point in the session, besides Test Week, by scheduling a Parent Coach Conference (PCC) at the front desk. Any swimmer who is in danger of repeating will be issued a mid-session evaluation by the Deck Supervisor or their coach. They will inform you on how to help get your swimmer back on track.

Test week will be the second to last week of each session. This is when each swimmer will be evaluated on the skills learned throughout the session. They will be placed in the correct level for the next session based on how they do on their test. This test will be emailed to you/available in the Parent Portal.

Self Practice is a time when swimmers practice their skills on their own. There will be no coach, but we have lifeguards on duty. It is first come first serve. Parents are required to be in the pool for swimmers in the small pool, otherwise, there are no parents allowed on deck. There is a fee of $15 for current swimmers or you are able to redeem an excused absence.

Everyone learns at their own pace. It’s best not to compare your swimmer to others. Factors such as how often they swim, their own effort, & what the end goal is, play a huge role in when they will reach that goal.

We offer different forms of credit such as Self-Practice, credit to the account, or a make-up class for excused absences. Please refer to Calphin’s policies in iClassPro Portal under More > Family Policies.

You’re welcome to take a picture of your kid on your 1st lesson w/ Calphin. Calphin asks that do not take any photos/videos during lesson time to protect the privacy of our swimmers. If you would like to take any photos, please obtain permission from Calphin’s Management or wait till the last lesson.

1st Week Check in at the Front Desk. Please be patient during this week as students and coaches get to know each other. On the first day, students will be finding their coach, and coaches will be finding their students. Don’t worry—our Deck Supervisor and Front Desk team are here to assist you every step of the way. 2nd to last week is Test Week. Final Week will be Fun week/Retests/Coach Appreciation.

All Calphin Locations are open 7 days a week.

Weekly classes range from 30-minutes to 1-hour long periods depending on the student’s level.  Swimmers are recommended to enrolled in multiple classes per week.

Our program is ran year-round with school district sessions functioning in the seasonal quarters of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

The length of each quarter ranges from 10 – 12 weeks including a end of the session progression test during the end of each session.

Levels are designed to start at age 3 and up. We recommend you sign up for a trail class if your swimmer is under 5. Currently Calphin does not support or offer classes for swimmers 2 and younger.

Required attire to swim at Calphin include:

  • Competition/Practice Goggles
  • Swim Caps
  • Girls must wear a One-piece swimsuit.
  • Boys must wear either jammers or trunks depending on their level.
  • Towels are recommended.

Clothes and items that hinder progression and are not allowed unless they are within special circumstances include:

  • Wetsuits/Full Body Suits
  • Long Sleeve Rash Guards
  • Scuba/Snorkel Goggles
  • Waterproof Watches
  • Loose Swimwear/Skirts

If you have any concerns and or limitations regarding our swim attire policy please let us know at the front desk.

Our smaller pool is 20’ x 30’ ranging from 3.5 feet to 4 feet, whereas our large 25 yards, six lane pool ranges from 4 feet to 7 feet.

We are year-round heated pool! The small pool is 90F and our large pool is 82F.

Through either parent portal or the front desk, you may ask that your child be taught with a specific coach and our front desk staff will do its best to place your child with that coach, but we cannot guarantee placement.

During our lesson hours, every swim class is assigned with one of our trained coaches or instructors. Given that and since the swimmers are grouped into classes by their skill levels and closely monitored by the coach or instructor, a life guard is not required. Nonetheless, we may add a lifeguard in the peak hours from time to time for double safety.
